Lego Robotics Education

Teaching computational thinking through hands on activities.

Mentoring local students and youth groups in computational thinking, programming, and problem solving through various hands-on activities.

What we do

Teaching universal skills

We believe that computational thinking skills apply to every field. We teach applicable skills and principles such as

  • problem solving
  • communiciation
  • organization and processing

Inspiring youth

We encourage students to explore how computational thinking applies to their own life, and inspire them to continue learning outside the classroom.

Education

We are passionate about educating the next generation on the principles and practices of computer science, no matter what their passion is.

Robotics Programming

We teach kids how to program Lego robots. We walk them through the entire process, from building the robot to actually coding unique and engaging programs.

The curriculum is approximately a semester long and covers topics such as

  • building a robot
  • controling the robot programmatically
  • if-else statements
  • loops
  • input sensors

Coding & Scratch

We teach kids to code with Scratch, a visual coding language for kids. Scratch is easy to learn and understand, but teaches you the fundamentals which are applicable to other programming languages.

Creative Coding

We have another initiative called Creative Coding which also teaches kids how to program, but with an emphasis on art and storytelling. Contact us for more information.

Inclusion

Interdisciplinary Involvment

Nearly every field in the modern world uses computer science in some way, and our curriculum interweaves many disciplines.

Including everybody in computer science

It has been found that nearly all students are interested in STEM fields at a young age, but that some groups see a steep decline in interest around middle school. We aim to get students involved in STEM early on to curb this decline. We believe that everyone, regardless of group or background, should be in STEM.
